Where We Travel

On Eagle's Wings volunteers in Northern Canada

Every year we are invited into many remote and isolated communities throughout Northern Canada.

There are no roads to most of these villages and hamlets, so we usually have to fly in, or drive the ice roads across frozen Northern lakes and rivers.

The map below shows the communities we regularly travel to.

Our brothers and sisters in the North live in such remote locations that they often feel incredibly isolated from the rest of the world.

Over the years our friends have told us our presence with them makes all the difference.  The fact that Southerners would be prepared to make the difficult and expensive journey to spend time with them is deeply meaningful.

The most frequently asked question of us is, “When are you coming back?”

What We Do

In the Summer months we run Bible Camps, spending time with children, their families, community elders and other local leaders.  It is a great time of encouragement for everyone involved.  We also offer training for local leaders, youth and young adults.

Throughout the year we maintain a pastoral presence in the communities, walking with our northern friends and offering resources and support when requested.

The Our Work page has more details about what we do in the North.

Northern Life is Expensive

Life in the North is expensive.  It costs locals a lot of money to make simple purchases.

The cost of transporting goods to such remote locations is undeniably high.  With few roads, goods must be transported by air, barges and ships that have to maneuver though areas like the Northwest passage.  Gasoline and diesel are often delivered only once a year when the boats can get through.

This makes travel expensive too.  A roundtrip fare from Yellowknife to Kugluktuk costs $1800.  That cost increases to over $3500 per person to get to the most remote communities we serve.

How YOU Can Help!

On Eagle’s Wings is funded primarily though donations.  Perhaps you would like to help fund our ministry.  The Donate Page has all the information you need.

If you are up for an adventure, why not apply to volunteer on a Bible Camp team?

We also need content creators, writers, mailing and office assistants, board members and more!
The Get Involved page has further details about these opportunities.

If there is a specific skill you bring, or you have questions, please get in touch.  We look forward to partnering with you!
