Bible Camp in a Bag
Our 2024 Bible Camp in a Bag kit
Did you know we offer our Bible Camp in a Bag (BCiaB) program in addition to our regular Bible Camps? This is available to communities who are not hosting an in-person Bible Camp.
Each year we prepare and distribute Bible story booklets to communities across northern Canada.
Bible Camp in a Bag kits contains a drawstring backpack, story booklets, scissors, glue sticks, and all the items needed to make crafts that compliment the story for each day.
Communities requesting BCiaB use them in different ways. Some gather kids together and run their own camp. Others distribute one story a week for five weeks.
Mostly they are distributed directly to children and families within the community.
We have found that that whole families enjoy receiving our Bible Camp in a Bag materials. They gather to read the stories, make crafts, and enjoy the activities together.
Bible Camp in a Bag began as our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the virus began spreading we immediately implemented public health and safety measures. As travel restrictions were put in place it became clear that we would not be able to run in-person Bible Camps.
Wanting to ensure that we could still serve each of the communities we work with, we quickly pivoted to the production of a Virtual Bible Camp which became known as Bible Camp in a Bag.
These innovative kits included printed materials, craft-making supplies such as scissors, tape, pencils, crayons, coloured paper and more!
The amazing On Eagle’s Wings volunteers recorded story and song videos on their phones, and these were copied onto USB sticks and DVDs for distribution.
Over 400 kits were sent North, from Fort Chipewyan in northern Alberta to Grise Fiord at the very top of the world!
You Can Help
With Bible Camp in a Bag proving so successful, we have decided to continue the program in addition to our regular in person Bible Camps.
As a result, we need volunteers to help prepare Bible Camp in a Bag kits, and assist with logistics and distribution. Sound like fun? Get involved today 🙂
